In Maths we have been learning about the Pythagoras theorem.
In mathematics the Pythagoras theorem, is a fundamental relation in Euclidean geometry among the three sides of a right triangle. It states that the area of the square whose side is the hypotenuse the side opposite the right angle is equal to the sum of the areas of the squares on the other two sides. This theorem can be written as an equation relating the lengths of the sides a, b and c, often called the Pythagorean equation.
1. Draw & label diagram - How to identify the Pythagoras Theorem
2. Write down what you are given
3. Write down the proof/ theory/ formula for a right angled triangle
4. Put the numbers in carry out operation
5. Answer with units
Example: a=4 b=6 c= Hyp?
We have to times the number by itself. If there is a little 2 above the number it mean you have to times it. For example 2 squared would equal 4.
a2 + b2 = c2
Basically 4 squared is 4x4 + 6 squared witch is 6x6
4 squared + 6 squared
add them both together
16 + 36
52=c2
If you go on to a calculate or computer you can square root the answers and it equals 7.2 Square root of 52 = 7.2
That means c=7.2
What is the Pythagoras Theorem used for in real life
Architecture, Woodworking, or other physical construction projects. For instance, say you are building a sloped roof. If you know the height of the roof and the length for it to cover, you can use the Pythagorean Theorem to find the diagonal length of the roof's slope.
