Lighting is used in this shot to make the house feel cold, old and run down. This is done by using a 'cold white' light coming into the room form a cloudy window. the directer has used this lighting to enhance the idea that Coralines life a home is dull and boring and she is unhappy there it also provides contrast tot he other world which is bright warmly lit.

3 shot: In the shot it is colorful and happy in the tunnel. While she is going from a bad world she is going into the good world. That is making it bright and warm while she is crawling through. Coraline is confused on what she is witnessing but once she goes through is bright, nice and calm.
